Buildings of great architectural merit are governed by the all powerful notion of concept and genius loci. It is an intangible quality that can be discerned at once upon a mere glance at its plan or section. The concept is the raison detre for its being, an intellectual justification that transcends material and wordly concerns, often only enjoyed by the architect. It is often said taht every new building is a prototype for it is only built once. And so by deduction, every part that goes to form a building is also a prototype that has a specific use, be it aesthetic or functional. By applying architectural conception and processes to products in the same was as we would design a particular element of a building, we create “architectural products” that are imbued with a strong theme ... so by sheer extension of our art of architectural detailing, we create products that speak of concept, form, poetry, structure and detail. We distill ideas into a single idea and eliminate materials down to only one or two materials in order to seek out the form of the concept.
